Coca-Cola-Memorial Day

On Memorial Day, May 30th 2016, Coca-Cola posted an image on their Facebook page of soldiers drinking a refreshing Coca-Cola.  This ad was in remembrance of our soldiers who provided for our freedom that we enjoy and the soldiers that are currently standing guard to protect our future as Americans.  This Facebook post received over nineteen thousand likes and over one thousand shares and one hundred and twenty eight comments.

One successful element that this post had was how it communicated with their audience in an appropriate way. (Baker 92)  This post included a visual image that created high engagement with many Americans over the Memorial Day holiday. Having an image increased the likelihood that more followers would take the time to like, comment or share this post. Another element that this post was successful in portraying was knowing their target audience. Coca-Cola is sometimes thought of as all American and American’s love to show their patriotic feelings towards military personnel both past and present on Memorial Day. (Baker 92)
