One company whose marketing never ceases to impress me is
Nike. First of all, they just seem like they’re everywhere. Whether you are
walking into a sports arena, watching sports on tv, or just walking through a
store, Nike dominates the sports world. Recently, I started to follow them on Instagram
so I could compare what we talk about in this class with what Nike actually
does. A lot of the things Nike does on their Instagram blend perfectly with the
Forbes article about reasons for being on Instagram. For example, Nike does an
excellent job of branding themselves through their content. Recently Portugal
won the UEFA Euro Cup in soccer. Just minutes after they won, Nike posted a
picture of the players hugging each other with a text overly that read “Make
Them Believe” with the Nike swoosh under it. All the player for Portugal have
their Nike shorts and shirts on. In the caption it reads, “Stand as one. Play
as one. Win as one.” #justdoit”. Nike has done a great job driving in the Just
Do It campaign along with making sure to use relevant current events to create
quality content. In doing this, Nike can be sure that they are relating to
their audience by posting about what their audience is interested in.
