Again, I chose a Facebook post from REI. This is another GOOD post. The first thing that stuck out to me is the fact that they specifically mentioned a customer in their tweet. They had a picture of him and tagged him in the post. This is a good way to interact with your consumers and to follow rule number 4 in the “rules of engagement for SMM; “Have a personality” (Barker 73). Rather than making the post about themselves, again REI chose to make it about their consumers. Another unique aspect of this post is the fact that they steered away from the typical trees, sticks, and mud type of outdoors and switched it up to a beach scene which shows that they don’t limit themselves. Their hashtag was the same as previous posts, which gives consumers something familiar to look at and recognize. Lastly, This post came in at 1000 likes and 15 shares, which shows that as usual, REI caught the eye of many different followers.
